Shaoxing's infrastructure construction
has been undertaken under the strict rules of protecting the ancient city
and its waterside town feature. It was one of the top 40 cities in China
in the supply of investment infrastructure in 1992.

Transportation
Shaoxing has easy access to transportation of railway and highway to Shanghai,
Hangzhou, Ningbo and other neighboring cities. Deluxe buses shuttling
between Shanghai and Shaoxing through expressway or high-grade highways
provide fast and comfortable journey. Downtown Shaoxing is only 30 Kilometers
away from Hangzhou's Xiaoshan International Airport.
Post and Telecom
One of the cities in China having the highest density of transmission
through optical fibre. Shaoxing has an advanced network for digital telecommunications.
IDD to 237 countries and regions are available in any place in Shaoxing.
It has mail services to any corner of the earth, and express delivery
service is also available. Internet, image and text fax, TV and telephone
conferences have been widely adopted.
Water and Power Supply
The comprehensive urban water supply ability is 2 million tons a day with
water quality arriving at Class A standard to meet both production and
daily life need. Supply from local hydropower and coal-fired power plants
as well as from the national grid enables sufficient electricity supply
in Shaoxing. The current power supply ability is more than twice as much
as the demand.
Environment Protection
The government pays attention to environment protection and works through
improving greenery coverage, sewage treatment, river harnessing, banning
fireworks, prohibiting auto-loudspeakers, containing garbage in plastic
bags before treatment, using unleaded gasoline and treating pollution
through legal and economic means to maintain and excellent environment.
Xialu Town of Shaoxing awarded by the United Nation as "Top 500 Environmental
Protection Models".
